"Ceramics are weak!" Although
the commonly held belief is that ceramics are weak this
can now be dispelled by the range of ceramic materials
available from Dynamic-Ceramic. Some of our Technox®
range has properties well into the regime of metallic
materials.
For example, would you believe that Technox® ceramics
can be used to produce springs and nails. Probably not
- but it's true! |

The inter atomic bonding of Advanced Ceramics has long been
recognised as responsible for the high values of hardness and
compressive strength.
These highly desirable properties have as yet been largely
disregarded, due to the perceived low toughness and brittle
failure demonstrated by traditional ceramic materials.
However, recent developments have led to a new breed of ceramic
materials displaying mechanical properties that were previously
considered Utopian.
For example, some of the highly desirable properties of Technox®
ceramic alloys are:
- High Strength
- High Fracture Toughness
- High Hardness
- Excellent Wear Resistance
- Good Frictional Behaviour
- Anti-Static
|
- Non-Magnetic
- Low Thermal Conductivity
- Corrosion Resistance in acids and alkalis
- Excellent Surface Finish (0.006 µm Ra)
- Modulus of Elasticity similar to steel
- Thermal Expansion Coefficient similar to cast iron
